that most people did not care if they voted they thought that their vote did not really matter why some of the people did not vote
ReplyDeletewhen it comes to voting, the government seems to be very picky about stuff. like you need your real name, age, place of birth, etc. You have to be a certain age to vote. Every state has qualifications in order to vote like: residence, citizenship, and age. The Framers of the Constitution purposely left the power to set qualifications to each state. The voting rights acts made the 15th amendment. People who don't vote are usually ill, physically disabled, aliens, or traveling. The constitution placed 5 restrictions.
ReplyDeleteno state can deprive any person of the right to vote on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude
ReplyDeleteno state can deprive any person who is at least 18 years of age of the right to vote
aliens who have not become citizens are generally denied the right to vote in the United States
The information i learned was that every man could vote, no matter what their skin color was in the 1800s. I learned more about the rights to vote, besides having to be a certain age, you have to have residence in the United States for a certain amount of time and you need to be a citizen. I also learned that you can vote when you are getting your license renewed. You register to vote so that no one can steal your identity and vote for you when you haven't voted, and the last thing i learned was that the only state that you don't have to register to vote is North Dakota.
ReplyDeletePeople don't vote because they either don't have the time or they forget about it. There used to be many different things that kept you from being able to vote and now there are only a certain few. If you have comitted a serious crime and are in prison for it you are not allowed to vote. There is a difference in voters between straight ticket voters and split ticket voters. Back in the old days if you didn't own a piece of land you were not allowed to vote. You shouldn't base your voting decisions off what other people say. You should have your own decisions. You shouldn't base your political views off of what other people think such as your friends, piers, parents or anything like that you should have your own say in what you think is right,
ReplyDelete-Some people don't think that their vote counts so they do not vote.
ReplyDelete-That registration is necessary to be able to vote.
-People in the military can vote using and absentee ballot.
-Anyone can send in for an absentee ballot.
-Some people just vote for their party and never for the other one.
-Some people base their votes off of who they like and who they think will represent them best.
-There were a total of 5 stages that expanded suffrage to everyone equally.
-The constitution places 5 restrictions on states' power to set voting qualifications.
-The 15th amendment states that no one can be denied the right to vote because of race.
-1965 voting act led to complete suffrage to blacks.
-People who have a mental disorder cannot vote.
-The right to vote cannot be denied because of your sex.
-A poll tax cannot be put in where you vote.
-You must be over 18 to vote.
-Some people in prison cannot vote.

ReplyDelete-- You must be registered to vote, unless you live in North Dakota.
ReplyDelete-- If you are in prison you cannot vote.
-- You have to be an illegal citizen to vote.
-- I think the government should put more restrictions on voting, because it still seems too easy to vote.
-- I think during voting, parties shouldn't be able to bribe people into voting for them.
Many people think that just because of one vote it will change everything so that is why they don't vote.
ReplyDeletePeople who are mentally challenged can not vote.
People who have comitted serios crimes or is not a citizen of the united states of America can not vote.
You must be at least 18 years old to vote.
The poll tax was removed and I agree with it.
All but one state require you to register. Most people in prison or in mental health care facilities are not able to vote. Electorate is the potential voting population. Until 1970, only 4 states had put the voting age limit below 21. Georgia was the first in 1943. Registration is meant to prevent fraudulent voting. There used to be restrictions on voting based on literacy, tax payments, gender, race, and ownership of land.
