  1. I think the administration went out of line when they changed their mind on the arm band issue. They should have gone to the student body and polled if anybody thought the arm bands would be offensive. They could have delayed their decision and made the right one.

  2. students because they have the right to wear what they want especially if it is supporting a good cause
They probably didn't want it to be a big deal and they wanted to be in control...

  3. Students - because they have the right to be free of speech

They could have went out and asked anyone if they did not like the bands...Tinker has the right to do what they wanted with the bands as long it didnt bring any harm to the student body

  4. I think the students were right and the administration wrong, besides if any of the students were to bring up a new policy they would be told that the school board would have to approve, but evidently if the administration wants a new policy, they can just do it themselves. not fair.

  6. if i were to defend the school i would say that they were just trying to protect the students and the school from disruptions.

  7. Ya the administration shouldn't have gone straight away and put the rule down.
Tinker has all the right to wear have an arm band if they want to.

  8. Students should be able to wear those if they wanted to support our troops. The school should not be able to start a new policy for that, the only reason that they knew what the armbands meant was because the students went and talk to the school. Otherwise they wouldn't no what they meant its a fashion trend same thing.

  9. the students were standing up and making a silent movement not hurting anyone and just trying to be heard. they should not have been treated like that.
I would say that it is just better to keep quiet because it could cause problems with troy and i really understand where jacki is coming from when she puts herself in the opposing side.

  10. I think the students should be ok to wear the bands. They are only supporting something they believe that doesn't affect anyone personally.

Just avoiding the situation was the main point of the rule. They didn't want anything to come up and have to deal with the problems that arise.

  11. I agree that they shouldn't have put it done right away.

I agree that since they were a silent protest they should have been fine.

  12. I think that the students were right in this situation because they weren't doing anything wrong when they decided to support something they believed in.

The administration thought that it had the right to band arm bans because the students were the ones who decided to tell the administration what was happening. Apparently it did offend the adults and they didn't want the arm band thing to happen.

  13. I think that the students were right because they stood up for what they believed and its important that people support out troops.

The school just wanted to avoid the situation so they banned the arm bands.

I agree with jen that they weren't doing any harm to anyone so it shouldnt of been a big deal

  14. students- because the school had no right to tell them they couldn't wear an arm band and also they changed the policy over night

the school didn't want the whole thing to get out of control. The arm bands may offend the kids that took the other side which may start fights or have controversy.

  15. it should be ok for the students to wear the arm bands. It is up to them weather they want to or not.

The school was just trying to prevent any outcast or drama.

  16. Students because they should have the right to wear whatever.. and they are trying to bring peace and end things for our country

If i was defending the school.. I would say it would be distracting and they wouldn't be focusing on the school work part of it

I agree with Jacki.. they can't just make a rule up for the next day when the students have no clue about it..
and I agree Kim because students were supporting for a good cause

  17. I think the students were right because they have the right to freedom of speech. They can express themselves however they'd wish.

The school board probably didn't want any issues to come about. They didn't want the publicity but they couldn't avoid that by denying the issue. They probably wanted to be in control.

I agree with Jennifer saying the students wanted to make a silent movement. They didn't want to cause many problems, just to support the troops.

I also agree that they shouldn't have banned it right away. They should've discussed it further.

  18. I believe the students were right to support the troops and show their support in a peaceful way. The schools reaction to it was unjust.

The school wanted to avoid the problem because there were probably some chance they could be in trouble with the law in some way.

  19. i agree with jennifer that the students didn't hurt anyone by wearing the arm band. Also i agree with kim because they were supporting a good cause.

  20. I think that the students were right to wear the arm bands. They were supporting the peace act silently and in a good way. They also didn't push it on any of the other students which was good.

The school would of thought that the kids would make a big deal of the arm bands forcing them on others or uprising the school.

  21. I agree that the students were doing something for a good cause and I also agree that the administration wasn't fair by putting in a rule against arm bands one day before.

  22. I think the students were standing up for their beliefs by wearing the arm bands. They were not hurting anyone just showing what they thought they should do. They should be able to express themselves and how they feel....

If I was the defending the school I think they were protecting the school and did not want troubles.
